DAY ONE>

Fly to Seoul

Fly from Grand Rapids OR transfer via provided shuttle from the West Michigan area to Chicago O’Hare International Airport to take our flight across the Pacific Ocean to Seoul, South Korea!

DAY TWO>

Arrive in Seoul

This evening, we will arrive in Seoul. After clearing customs and collecting our luggage, our private coach will escort us to our centrally located hotel. After we check-in, we will have the rest of the night to relax and unwind.

Seoul is the vibrant capital and largest city of South Korea, blending centuries of history with a modern, dynamic culture. Home to nearly 10 million people, Seoul is known for its magnificent royal palaces, traditional neighborhoods, bustling markets, cutting-edge technology, and world-class food scene. Founded as a capital during the Joseon Dynasty in the 14th century, the city has grown into one of Asia’s leading global centers for business, culture, fashion, and entertainment.

DAY THREE>

Seoul, South Korea

This morning, we will meet our local English-speaking tour guide for a private half-day tour of Seoul’s highlights!

Our day begins with a guided tour of the 14th century Gyeongbokgung Palace; the largest and arguably most beautiful of Seoul’s five grand palaces. We’ll also have the opportunity to watch the traditional Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, a unique and memorable experience.

Next, we will visit Namsangol Hanok Village, a beautifully restored traditional Korean village at the foot of Namsan Mountain. We will explore its historic “hanok” houses and experience a glimpse of traditional Korean culture and architecture.

We will then continue to Bugak Palgakjeong, also known as Bugak Pavilion, where we’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Seoul. We will have some time to admire the scenery and capture photos of the city from this peaceful mountain setting.

Afterwards, we will also visit Cheongha Korea Ginseng to learn about Korea’s renowned ginseng and its importance in traditional Korean culture.

Finally, our tour ends at Gwangjang Market; one of Seoul’s oldest and most famous traditional markets. We’ll have some free time to explore the market, shop for local goods, and sample some traditional Korean snacks.

After the tour is completed, our guide will give us excellent recommendations of nearby restaurants and attractions in the area around our hotel for our free time.

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS:

  • Seoul Street Food Night Tour

Seoul is famous for its food, but it can be overwhelming to navigate between all the different markets and food options. Get an authentic taste of Korean food on a guided tour that takes you past the tourist traps to more local spots to sample dozens of tasty local delicacies such as bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes) and mayak gimbap (addictive seaweed rice rolls)!

  • Lotte World Tower Observatory

One of the largest buildings in the world, the Lotte World Tower Observatory, has views of the city for miles! Your skip-the-line tickets will grant you access to the Seoul Sky deck, which is 1640 feet tall!

DAY FIVE>

Jeju Island, South Korea

Today, our private coach will transfer us to the airport for our flight to Jeju Island! This island has an amazing natural landscape with its semi-tropical national parks, wild coastlines, and the world’s longest underground lava tube!

 

After we check-in to our hotel, the afternoon is free to do what you wish. Choose to relax, or join us on one of these awesome excursions.

Jeju Island is South Korea’s largest island and a popular destination known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, beautiful beaches, lush countryside, and unique cultural traditions. Formed by volcanic activity, the island is home to Hallasan; South Korea’s highest mountain, as well as lava tubes, waterfalls, and striking coastal cliffs. Jeju is also famous for its haenyeo, the traditional women free divers who have become an important symbol of the island’s culture. With its combination of natural beauty, rich heritage, and relaxed atmosphere, Jeju is often considered one of South Korea’s most scenic destinations.

DAY SIX>

Jeju, Island, South Korea

We’ll spend the day exploring the eastern side of Jeju Island, taking in a mix of natural wonders, cultural sites, and beautiful coastal scenery!

 

Our first stop will be Hamdeok Beach, known for its clear turquoise water and picturesque coastline.

From there, we’ll visit Seongeup Folk Village, a traditional village that offers a glimpse into Jeju’s history, culture, and traditional way of life.

A stop at Gwangchigi Beach provides beautiful views of the coastline, with time to explore and take photos.

At Umutgae Coast, we’ll have the opportunity to watch a traditional Haenyeo diving performance and learn about Jeju’s famous women free divers and their unique cultural heritage.

Next, we’ll visit Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak), one of Jeju’s most famous landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll have time to explore the area and enjoy spectacular views of the volcanic crater and surrounding coastline.

We’ll then explore the Manjanggul Lava Tube, one of Jeju’s fascinating volcanic formations. The cave is part of an extensive lava tube system created by volcanic activity thousands of years ago.

Our day will conclude at Dongmun Traditional Market, where we can explore the lively market and experience some of Jeju’s local food and culture.

DAY SEVEN>

Jeju Island, South Korea

Today, we’ll begin our day with a scenic drive into the highlands of Jeju, enjoying the fresh mountain air and beautiful views around Mount Hallasan.

From there, we will continue to Jusangjeolli Cliff, where dramatic hexagonal basalt columns meet the sea, creating one of Jeju’s most impressive natural landscapes.

Next, there will be a visit to Cheonjeyeon Waterfall; a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush forest. We’ll have time to explore the area and enjoy a short scenic walk.

Around midday, we’ll stop for lunch at Mannam Garden, where we can enjoy a Korean well-being buffet featuring seasonal vegetables and local ingredients. Lunch will be at our own expense.

Our afternoon continues at the O’sulloc Tea Museum and Green Tea Fields. We’ll stroll through the lush tea fields and have free time to explore the museum, sample Korean green tea, or relax at the café.

We’ll then make our way to Songaksan Mountain for a scenic coastal walk, with panoramic views of Sanbangsan Mountain, Hallasan, and the open sea.

Continuing along the coast, we’ll visit Bomunsa Temple at Sanbangsan, set against the dramatic volcanic cliffs of Sanbangsan Mountain. The temple offers beautiful views and a glimpse into Jeju’s spiritual heritage.

To wrap up our day, we’ll visit Jeju Dongmun Market Food Street, Jeju’s most famous traditional market. We’ll have an opportunity to explore the lively market and sample local foods and street snacks before returning.

DAY EIGHT>

Busan, South Korea

After breakfast, our private coach will transfer us back to the airport for our flight to Busan. This dynamic seaside destination features golden beaches, bustling seafood markets, mountain temples, and modern city life that come together in perfect harmony.

 

After we check-in to our city-center hotel, there is time to take the day at your own pace.

 

Busan is South Korea’s second-largest city and its largest port, known for its beautiful coastline, lively markets, and relaxed seaside atmosphere. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, the city offers a mix of scenic beaches, historic temples, colorful neighborhoods, and vibrant food culture. Highlights include Haeundae Beach, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Gamcheon Culture Village, and the bustling markets of Nampo-dong. With its combination of natural beauty, rich history, and excellent seafood, Busan is one of South Korea’s most popular destinations.

DAY NINE>

Busan, South Korea

See the best of Busan on a full-day sightseeing tour! We’ll first board the Haeundae Blue Line Train; a scenic coastal railway offering beautiful views of Busan’s beaches, rocky shoreline, and the East Sea.

 

Next, we’ll visit Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, a spectacular seaside Buddhist temple perched along dramatic cliffs. We’ll have time to explore its pathways, admire the stone lanterns and statues, and enjoy the peaceful setting overlooking the sea.

 

After enjoying a delicious local lunch, we will continue to Gamcheon Culture Village, known for its colorful hillside homes, artistic murals, narrow alleyways, and unique shops and galleries.

 

Our afternoon continues with the Busan Air Cruise; a scenic cable car ride soaring above Songdo Beach. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of the coastline, cliffs, sea, and Busan skyline.

 

Finish the day in Nampo-dong Food Alley; a lively area filled with street food stalls, local restaurants, and bustling markets. This will be a great opportunity to sample Busan’s seafood specialties and classic Korean snacks.

 

After some time to explore and enjoy the local food scene, we’ll return to our accommodations in Busan for a free evening.

Today, breathe in the serenity of the sacred Bulguksa Temple as you admire its intricate stonework and embrace a quiet moment of spiritual calm. Next, you will head to the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, marvel at the ancient Woldjeonggyo Bridge.

DAY ELEVEN>

Today our group will take the famous KTX High-Speed Bullet Train back to Seoul. This train is one of the fastest in the world at top speeds of over 305km/h (190 mph)!

 

After we arrive in Seoul, we will have the rest of the evening free; OR you can join us for an amazing Korean Cooking Class and/or Sunset Cruise!

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS:

  • Traditional Korean Cooking Class

This evening, we will meet our local chef in a private kitchen in Seoul, where we will learn to make a mouth-watering 3-course Korean dinner with many yummy side dishes to go along with it! No cooking experience is required, as our English-speaking chef will walk us through each individual step.
