Fly to Nairobi, Kenya
We will transfer from West Michigan, Chicago, or Detroit for our flight to the capital of Kenya, Nairobi! Our flight will include all meals, beverages, and entertainment. If the Chicago option is decided, we will provide roundtrip private shuttle transportation from West Michigan to O’Hare Airport.
We will arrive in Kenya's bustling capital city in the evening. After clearing customs, collecting luggage, and exchanging currency, we will proceed to our private bus that will take us to our centrally located hotel for a night of rest.
We will be visiting during what is known as the “Green Season,” where the heavy rains from March and April bring forth lush shades of green to the grasses and trees. It also brings more pleasant temperatures.

Today, our group will drive along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Hells Gate National Park. This park has a unique landscape filled with spectacular gorges, towering cliffs, and geothermal steam, and is home to African buffalo, zebras, and over 100 species of birds! Here, we will have the opportunity to hike the gorges and see the real ‘Pride Rock’ that inspired the movie The Lion King!
After our lunch break, we will next head to Lake Naivasha! When we arrive, we will set out on a horseback riding safari to view the many animals that live in the oasis. Afterwards, we will board our safari boats to view the landscape and animals in and around the lake, such as hippos, crocodiles, and many types of birds.
After dinner, return to Nairobi for an evening of rest.

Cheetah Snoozing in the Shade
Masai Mara, Kenya
Today, we will adventure out on a photo safari in Masai Mara National Park. Travel through the savannah in an open-top 4x4 safari vehicle and keep an eye out for the famous 'Big Five' – elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and water buffaloes, as well as many other species. A highlight will be having an open-air picnic along the Mara River while spotting wildebeest migrating over to Serengeti National Park
Travel Tip* As you enter each park, make sure you take the opportunity to use the toilets at the visitor center entrance. Once you're out in the savannah, there are no toilets to use. If you do have to go to the bathroom while you're out on safari, you can't wander out behind a tree for privacy; you have to stay right next to the Jeep for safety.
