DAY SIX>

Santorini, Greece

170-greece.png

Early this morning, we will transfer to Piraeus Port to take the famous Blue Star Delos ferry across the Aegean Sea to beautiful Santorini! The ferry is similar to a cruise ship, with many restaurants, bars, shops, and comfortable seating onboard. It’s even possible to upgrade to a stateroom with a comfortable bed and private bathroom for this 7.5-hour journey if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.

The ferry will take us past the charming local islands of Paros and Naxos before arriving at what many say is Greece’s most beautiful island of Santorini.

Upon arriving in the afternoon, we will transfer to our beachside hotel in charming Monolithos to relax and unwind.

The rest of the day will be free to do as you wish!

Santorini is famous for its whitewashed villages, blue-domed churches, dramatic cliffs, and sunsets. Its distinctive crescent shape was formed by a massive volcanic eruption around 3,600 years ago, leaving a flooded caldera surrounded by steep cliffs. The main towns, Fira and Oia, cling to the caldera rim and offer sweeping views of the sea and volcanic islands. Santorini is also known for its black- and red-sand beaches, volcanic landscapes, wineries, and archaeological site at Akrotiri, a Bronze Age settlement preserved beneath volcanic ash.

DAY SEVEN>

Santorini, Greece

170-greece.png

Today, we will have the complete Santorini experience, combining the island’s spectacular natural beauty, traditional villages, and volcanic landscape! We will experience this both by private bus and also by private boat!

Our first stop is the 16th-century Monastery of Prophet Elias, located at the highest point of Santorini, approximately 1,854 feet above sea level. The monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views across the entire island.

We continue to the village of Pyrgos, known for its Cycladic architecture, Byzantine churches, and Venetian Castle. Situated high on the island, Pyrgos offers beautiful views over the northwestern part of Santorini.

We then board the King Thiras boat and sail to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, where we can follow a walking path toward the crater of Santorini’s still-active volcano and experience the unique volcanic landscape up close.

The boat continues to Palea Kameni, the second volcanic island, where it stops approximately 165 feet from the famous Hot Springs. We can swim in the green sulfur waters or relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding caldera.

Next, we visit the island of Thirasia, which was once part of Santorini before the massive volcanic eruption that shaped the islands. We have approximately two hours to swim, enjoy lunch by the sea, or explore the traditional village of Manolas, with its winding steps and charming houses.

Our final destination is Oia, one of the most famous villages in the world, renowned for its whitewashed buildings, stunning caldera views, and spectacular sunset over the Aegean Sea.

Later, we will return to our hotel for a free evening.
