DAY ONE>

Fly to Egypt

Transfer via provided shuttle from West Michigan area to Chicago O’Hare International Airport to take your flight to Egypt's capital city: Cairo!

Enjoy a comfortable flight on a full-service airline where you will have full meal service, complimentary alcoholic beverages, in-flight personal entertainment, and premium comfort.

DAY TWO>

Arrive in Cairo

Arrive in Cairo.  After clearing customs and retrieving baggage, transfer to your resort (with views of the Pyramids!) to relax and unwind.

DAY THREE>

Giza, Sakkara, & Memphis, Egypt

After breakfast, join your local Egyptologist to explore some of ancient Egypt’s most important archaeological sites during this extensive tour covering the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and surrounding areas. 

 

Admire the three Great Pyramids and get up close with the mystical lion-headed Sphinx.  You will get a chance to ride a camel right at the pyramids! 

 

Later, head south to an earlier era of Egyptian monument-building to check out the Step Pyramid at Sakkara and the impressive ancient ruins of the city of Memphis.

DAY FOUR>

Cairo, Egypt

After breakfast, experience Cairo’s highlights on a guided sightseeing tour.

 

Visit the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel of Saladin, Mohamed Ali Mosque and Khan El Khalili Bazaar, and immerse yourself in the city’s rich history and vibrant culture.

 

Discover Pharaohs’ hordes, crumbling mummies, and gleaming antiquities as you visit the world-class Egyptian Museum with a local guide. 

 

Later, take in the views from the Citadel’s medieval fortifications. Admire the soaring architecture of iconic mosques and browse for souvenirs and spices in the colorful stalls of a bustling souk. 

 

Next, opt to learn how to make papyrus at a hands-on workshop, including a lesson on hieroglyphics.

  • Nile River Dinner Cruise

 

Celebrate an evening in Cairo with a glittering 2-hour dinner cruise along the iconic Nile River. Step aboard the elegant Nile Maxim cruise boat, and soak up the sparkling city lights, delicious food and live entertainment as you glide along the beautiful Nile. Feast on your choice of either a scrumptious set menu or à la carte menu; listen to tunes from the house band; and enjoy an after-dinner folklore show featuring belly dancers and spinning ‘tanoura’ artistes performing to foot-tapping folklore music

DAY FIVE>

Cairo or Alexandria, Egypt

Enjoy a relaxing free day to enjoy the resort or the many nearby attractions

 

This evening, transfer to the Ramses train station and board your overnight first-class sleeper train, which will take you to the ancient city of Luxor! (dinner and breakfast included)

  • Alexandria Day Trip

Discover the legendary Mediterranean city of Alexandria on a full-day tour from Cairo and discover the traces of ancient Egyptians and Roman armies. Descend into the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa to see fascinating artworks that blend two cultures, visit Pompey’s Pillar, then take in views from the 15th-century fortifications at the Citadel of Qaitbay, a fortress built on the site of Alexandria’s ancient lighthouse.

DAY SIX>

Luxor, Egypt

After arriving in Luxor, transfer to your resort located on the Nile River and later join your local Egyptologist who will take you on a tour of Luxor’s East Bank.  

 

Visit the age-old Temple of Karnak dating back over 3,000 years. Ogle the giant columns of the Hypostyle Hall and see other highlights as you learn the unbelievable history.

 

Later, head to the Luxor Temple to walk the Avenue of the Sphinxes, admire its columns, courts, and statues; and discover how it was embellished by Tutankhamen and Alexander the Great

DAY SEVEN>

Luxor, Egypt

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the Valley of the Kings and explore the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

 

Head for the West Bank and discover the hieroglyph-coated chambers of the Valley of the Kings, the mountain-cut tombs of 62 of ancient Egypt’s rulers, as you learn about the pharaohs once buried here.

 

Next, visit the stunning Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and stop to see the towering Colossi of Memnon as your guide reveals captivating facts about these age-old monuments.

DAY EIGHT>

Luxor or Aswan, Egypt

Enjoy a relaxing free day at your resort or opt for one of the many nearby excursions!

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS:

 

  • Aswan Day Trip

           

Spend a day in the amazing city of Aswan, famous for its ancient luxury!  Visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu, which is said to be the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Afterwards, head to the town of Kom Ombo, where you will see the famous ‘Double Temple’.  Once you arrive in Aswan, enjoy a wonderful local lunch and then transfer to Lake Nasser for the Philae Temple, located on a small island.  Before heading back to Luxor, enjoy views from the High Dam.

 

  • Luxor Camel Ride

           

Explore the streets of Luxor with your very own camel! After a lovely Nile River crossing via ferry, hop on your camel and enjoy a relaxing ride down the streets and along the river.

                 

  • Horse & Carriage City Tour

           

Enjoy a wonderful city tour by horse & carriage. You will be taken to many different areas of the city, stopping by various markets and districts for a relaxing taste of local Egyptian culture and daily life

                 

  • Felucca Sunset Boat Ride

           

Spend your evening onboard a traditional Egyptian Felucca sailboat and enjoy the serene sights along the Nile River as the breeze takes you along the route.

  • Luxor Museum & Mummification Museum

See the artifacts and mummies discovered in Luxor’s tombs and temples on a half-day tour to the city’s two best-loved museums: the Luxor Museum and the Mummification Museum. At the Luxor Museum, you’ll see treasures that range from the Old Kingdom to the Mamluk period, including the magnificent statues excavated from Luxor Temple. Continue to the Mummification Museum to find the preserved remains of humans and animals, as well as the tools of mummification.

DAY NINE>

Luxor & Cairo, Egypt

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a short flight back to Cairo

 

Relax at your resort or opt for an impressive light and sound show at the Great Pyramids

DAY TEN>

Fly Home or Fly to Amman, Jordan

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or onto Jordan for those doing the trip extension!

 

Arrive in Amman and transfer to your hotel.

Later, discover the highlights of Jordan’s capital city on a guided tour of Amman.

 

See ancient Roman and Islamic ruins including the citadel and amphitheater, the Archaeological Museum, and much more. Learn about the over 9,000-year history of the city from your informative guide and shop for souvenirs at the souk before heading back to your hotel.

DAY ELEVEN>

Petra, Jordan

After breakfast, join your guide on a full-day tour of Jordan’s greatest ancient treasure: Petra!

 

Enjoy a guided tour of UNESCO-listed Petra: a rock city cut into a sandstone valley some 2,000 years ago.

 

Walk or ride a horse along the Siq entrance canyon, and behold the rose-tinted Treasury, Royal Tombs and more. During your explorations, learn about Petra’s history from your local guide and see lesser-known Little Petra, whose sculpted rock buildings were a suburb of the main city.

Amman, Jordan
