ITINERARY

DAY ONE>

Fly to Europe

Transfer via provided shuttle from West Michigan area to Chicago O’Hare International Airport to take your flight to a large European hub (city TBD).

Enjoy a comfortable flight on a full-service airline where you will have full meal service, complimentary alcoholic beverages, in-flight personal entertainment, and premium comfort.

DAY TWO>

Fly to Johannesburg, South Africa

Change Planes in Europe

Arrive in Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport and after clearing customs, transfer to your hotel downtown for some rest and relaxation.

DAY THREE>

Johannesburg, South Africa

Sleep in and enjoy an authentic South African breakfast at the hotel.

Join your local guide, who will take you on a walking tour of Johannesburg’s city center, where the ghost skyscrapers hover over an ocean of African traders and mini bus taxis. Walk around downtown “Joburg” as you are told stories of a different era in time and shown historical landmarks such as the Chancellor House (where Mandela worked as a lawyer in his younger days), the Beautiful Victorian Style Post Office, and the buzzing Diagonal Street where you might enjoy a corn on the cob or visit an old herbal shop.

 

Later, visit the Apartheid Museum to learn about the founding of South Africa before delving into the apartheid era. Using photos, video, and print, the museum takes you on an extraordinary journey through the apartheid years to the 1994 democratic elections that named Nelson Mandela president.

  • Magaliesburg Balloon Safari from Johannesburg

If you’re going to do it, then do it in unassailable style.   • Bicycle Tour of Soweto

Get an up close look at Soweto daily life during this bicycle tour of this historic neighborhood. Follow a local guide past the Orlando Soccer Stadium, Orlando Towers and other highlights. You'll learn about the local schooling system and pay a visit to a hostel for mineworkers. Your guide will take you to the houses of Winnie and Nelson Mandela, as well as the home of Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu- -some of the most famous names to come out of Soweto. This tour is the perfect way to explore one of South Africa's most well known destinations and offers travelers an opportunity to learn more about the history of Apartheid and the incredible student uprising at Orlando West High School.

DAY FOUR>

Pilanesberg, South Africa

See the majesty of South African wildlife with a full-day tour of the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve from Johannesburg. Travel through the reserve in an open-top 4x4 safari vehicle. Keep an eye out for the famous 'Big Five' – elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and water buffaloes, as well as many other species.

 

Eat lunch (included) and then choose to either do another safari drive or visit the nearby resort at Sun City.

DAY FIVE>

Cape Town, South Africa

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a short 2-hour flight to the South Africa’s coastal city of Cape Town.

Transfer to your hotel in the Cape Town city center.

Later, join a local guide who will take you on a walking tour of Cape Town including sites such as:

  • Company’s Garden

  • Parliament

  • Old President’s House  

  • Green Market Square

  • Castle of Good Hope

  • Slave Lodge

After dinner, transfer to Table Mountain for a cable car ride to the top. Experience a breathtaking panoramic sunset view of all of Cape Town.

DAY SIX>

Experience the scenic beauty and natural landscapes of South Africa’s Cape Peninsula on this full-day tour from Cape Town. You’ll see seals in Hout Bay (with optional Buiker Island boat trip) and have time to wander the shops. After breakfast, enjoy free time or opt to join your local guide for a (free) walking tour of the waterfront of Cape Town. You will see many attractions such as:

Enjoy one last free day in Cape Town to experience at your own leisure.

Opt for an excursion, or join us for a (free) historical Apartheid walking tour where you will get introduced to the history of apartheid in Cape Town and the places related to it. You will see places such as:

  • St Georges Cathedral

  • The Cape High Court

  • The “Apartheid Benches” 

  • District Six

DAY NINE>

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe**

After one final breakfast, head to the airport for your flight back home

If you purchased the trip extension, head to the airport for your flight to Victoria Falls, located on the border of Zambia & Zimbabwe!

After landing, transfer to your Zimbabwean Lodge for check-in.

Later, transfer to the Beautiful Victoria Falls, which takes pride as one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Attracting visitors from across the globe keen to admire the cascading torrent up-close, this UNESCO World Heritage Site has been flowing for more than 100,000 years, and it continues to shape the surrounding landscape.

  • Zambezi River Sunset Cruise

 

A Victoria Falls sunset cruise on the Zambezi River is a must do activity when on safari in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Celebrate the setting African Sun as you cruise the Zambezi River in luxury. First you will cruise downstream towards the Victoria Falls. From here you will be able to see the spray of the Victoria Falls. You will then cruise upstream to catch the sun setting over the Zambezi River. Be sure not to miss the fantastic photo opportunities, as a Victoria Falls sunset is one of the best you will ever witness.

DAY TEN>

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe**

Victoria Falls Canopy Tour

Enjoy a free day to spend at Victoria Falls. Simply take in the beauty of the falls, or opt for an amazing excursion.
